Taming the waters

The river rehabilitation program undertaken several years ago in Lot-and-Garonne has opened up over 200 km of navigable waterways, one of the most extensive and pleasant river networks in Southern Europe.

Take a boat and follow the Lot valley to view its magnificent landscapes, historical sites, and natural curiosities with the occasional gastronomic stop-off. Combining a boat with hiking or cycling, brings a different rhythm to holidays.

A good example of catering to the needs of water-borne travellers is the riverside village of Clairac, where docks with water and electricity connections, toilets etc. have done much to tempt holidaymakers to stopover and enjoy the cultural and gourmet bounty of the valley of the Lot. You don't even need a licence.
