A visit to a Museum > Courbet, Corot, Sisley and Boudin

Courbet, Corot, Sisley and Boudin are all represented, along with a collection which belonged to the count of Chaudordy and the ceramics of Boudon de St Amans, an Agenais who brought English methods of earthenware-making to France.

The other treasure is a statue known as the Venus du Mas d'Agenais, discovered by a surprised farmer in 1876. This is one of the best and most beautiful Venuses ever discovered in France, dating from the first century AD. She is an elegant, beautifully proportioned figure, even without her head and arms.

The museum is housed in Renaissance mansions between the Place de la Mairie and the Rue des Juifs.
