If there is one big reason not to miss Agen, it is the museum.
The reason is the art collection, which surprisingly enough includes five Goyas. Not as complete or impressive a show as that at Castres (Tarn), but worth a detour.
There is a revealing self-portrait of Goya, one of the Caprichos series of etchings, the ascent of a balloon from the Buen Retiro garden in Madrid (with the people on the ground rushing to follow its progress), a portrait of Ferdinand VIII of Spain, and 'La Misada Parida', painted apparently on top of another painting which threatens to overwhelm the Goya.
